Strangles is a highly contagious bacterial infection, affecting the upper respiratory systems of the horse. The illness can spread easily by nose-to-nose contact between horses or by anything that comes in contact with nasal discharge from a sick horse.

Dr. Kathleen MacMillan, of AVC’s Equine Ambulatory Service, will present the symptoms of strangles, diagnosis and treatment, and ways to reduce the risk of infection.

Everyone is welcome. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
