T.R.O.T. for Wishes
March 11, 2009
This year is the Children's Wish Foundation's 25th Anniversary and T.R.O.T. is pleased to announce that we are going to T.R.O.T. for Wishes .
This year Connie Gaudette, Darlene Bernard and myself (Angelia MacKay) are once again going to ride for charity. Although this will be my first year Connie and Darlene both have experience in that they have done this twice before once in 2006 and again in 2007.
This schedule is somewhat tentative as we are still working on stabling, most astabling is secure. We are also going to reapproach the Provincial Government in hopes of acquiring full use of the trails.
We will be starting the ride on October 10 th in Souris riding to Morrell 48km, October 11 th riding Morrell to Covehead 51km, October 12 th riding Covehead to Freetown 44km, October 16 th riding Freetown to St. Nicholas 37km, October 17 th riding St. Nicholas to O'Leary 51km, and lastly riding O'Leary to Tignish 37km. Finishing the ride in conjunction with the Children's Wish Parade in Tignish on October 18 th .
We welcome all those that would like to join us in this adventure whether you're adventurous enough to go the distance or simply wish to partake in a day's ride when we are in you area.
There are some T.R.O.T. for Wishes basic necessities:
- This is indeed a fundraiser; therefore we are requesting a minimum pledge of $100.00 per rider.
- Anyone under the age of 16 is expected to be accompanied by an adult
- You must be at least 18 years of age to camp all night or again be accompanied by and adult.
- You must be a member of T.R.O.T. $10.00
- You must carry IHC Insurance.
This ride Tip to Tip is approximately 268km from Souris to Tignish, and without a doubt as many of you who have done this in previous years can attest to; is a challenge. It will be a test of strength both physically and mentally, of patience, emotions, and even faith. This is a huge investment of time, effort and energy in preparation of for us and in readying our horses.
Yet no matter what we may go through in the readying process, during this ride or even in life itself, it will pail in comparison to what some of these children will have gone through. That's why as we T.R.O.T into Tignish on October 18 th there will be nothing more empowering than to say: "yes we made it, and for a great cause!" For we will have T.R.O.T.ed for wishes and helped make a child's dream come true.
I personally want to thank Connie Gaudette, and Darlene Bernard for allowing me this wonderful opportunity.
